Every element is photographed. Nothing is generated.
Ideas come from walking the countryside, looking at settings and everyday objects. This is the slowest part of the work.
The scene is staged and shot alone, with a tripod and a timer. The Moon is photographed in the same location, usually in the first minutes after it rises, when it looks largest.
The photographs are combined and finished by hand into one image. Every license states that the image is a photo composite.
About
Daniel is from Cataguases, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and lives in Rio de Janeiro. He began the series in 2020, during the pandemic, while working remotely from his parents' farm in the countryside, far from city light.
He works alone. He stages, shoots and edits every image himself, and the collection has grown every year since. Alongside the Moon series, he makes surreal images of sky and landscape.
“Going to the Moon is an impossible dream. But through art, I can take people there with me.”Daniel Antoniol, Daily Star, 2022
